Meet Your North and North East Lincolnshire MNVP Lead

Kimberley Boyd
MNVP Lead for North and
North East Lincolnshire
About
I am a mum of two girls aged 14 and 19 years. My own personal maternity experiences were not the most positive and this has always been a drive in my own business which I have run for the last 10 years, supporting women and families before, during and after the birth of their baby.
I have been involved with the MNVP as a volunteer for a few years and I have been a Doula since 2018. I am keen to help women, birthing people and their families in the area to have their voices heard and to provide an open and non-judgemental space where they can do that. I am also passionate about informed choice and improving information shared to service users to help improve user experience and improve outcomes. So when the Lead position came up it was a bit of a no-brainer to go for it and to become even more involved and step it up a gear!
Interests
All areas interest me, I eat sleep and breathe all things pregnancy, birth, postnatal and parenting. I’m particularly pro informed choice and evidence based information sharing to enable parents to make decisions that are right for them. Supporting breastfeeding and maternal mental health are also areas I am keen on.
What would you like to achieve as MNVP Lead?
I want to raise the profile of the MNVP in our area and create a solid service user representative group. I would also like to ensure we reach all groups of users, including those who are under represented or unheard, inclusively is a key aim of mine.
Meet the NNEL MNVP Team

Marie Thompson
Neonatal Lead
I'm a solo parent to my daughter, Charlotte, who was born prematurely at 27 weeks. Although my maternity journey was a rollercoaster, she is a happy, bouncing, independent little girl! My maternity and neonatal experience has ignited a passion in me for patient and parent voices being heard and shaping what our services should look like. I have volunteered for a while with different parent feedback groups; sharing my experience, celebrating the positives, and working to make improvements where they are needed. When the opportunity for the Neonatal Lead for NNEL MNVP came up, it felt like the natural next step. It is amazing how varied people's maternity and neonatal stories are and yet there are so many similarities to be found too. I'm a firm believer in the importance of highlighting both things that are working well and things that could be better so that service providers know what is needed and wanted by patients and families. I also know that the feedback from parents and their families who have been through this experience is invaluable and my passion is to support you to do this and drive improvements in maternity, and particularly, neonatal services for all.
