About Hull MVP

Our Maternity Voices Partnership, (MVP) aims to represent the families of Hull and is inclusive to the vast areas where we cover. The professionals within the MVP are passionate about the job that they do and are always more than willing to discuss and develop their services to ensure they offer equality to our families. Across the Hull MVP and sister partnerships we share a clear emphasis on the importance of listening and engaging with families throughout the birthing journey and into parenthood.

Helen Binnie-Wise & Rachael Smith, MVP Chairs for Hull

Helen: I had a mixed journey with my maternity care and wanted to become an MVP Chair to help make a difference and support positive change.

Rachael: I had 2 very different birth experiences in Hull and wanted to use the positives and negatives from my journeys to help make improvements for the future for other parents. When the Hull MVP was established I volunteered for the role to help get it up and running and to make a difference to local families.

Interests:

Helen: Everything really! I’m particularly interested in breastfeeding support strategies and perinatal mental health and patient safety.

Rachael: We’re always interested in visiting groups to get more feedback, if you’d like us to come down to your group, please email us!
