About East Riding MVP

Our Maternity Voices Partnership, (MVP) aims to represent the families of East Riding and is inclusive to the vast areas where we cover. The professionals within the MVP are passionate about the job that they do and are always more than willing to discuss and develop their services to ensure they offer equality to our families. Across the East Riding MVP and sister partnerships we share a clear emphasis on the importance of listening and engaging with families throughout the birthing journey and into parenthood.

Emma Tomlinson, MVP Chair for East Riding

My name is Emma and I am simply a mum of 4 children, who supports the NHS and it's services.

I am also a perinatal mental health nurse so I am particularly interested in ensuring both antenatal and postnatal services incorporate the support and personalised care for all women, children, and families.

Interests:

My personal interests lie within the antenatal journey and the support for women and their families when things are not as straightforward.

This is predominantly focused on abnormalities in pregnancy and the support systems in place to offer care and compassion at this difficult time.

Meet Your MVP

About:

What would you like to achieve as MVP Chair?

I’d like to see the MVP grow with the voices of the community and aim to involve the families in coproduction and further developments to make the maternity services work for all of us.

I believe that both the sharing of experiences can help to build our services, and address both implications and build better relationships. This can ensure that the maternity journey remains individual and holistically focused for families and their babies.

Where can you find us?

We have a primary focus and emphasis on those who are giving birth, their families, and their experiences of the journey. We are aware that all experiences are unique to us and therefore aim to remain inclusive and promote a variety of topics to engage with in our community.

Our meetings are focused on remaining less formal and inviting to everyone.

We aim to schedule MVP meetings every quarter, (4 times a year), as a minimum. This is usually planned in advance and dates released. We do meet more regularly for updates and reviews as needed.
